The New West Essex YOUTH-Jazz-Band

The New West Essex YOUTH-Jazz-Band is a new program venue for children between 4th and 8th Grade who have at least one (1) year of Band, Orchestra and/or Private Lessons experience under their belt. This music program is open to children in Roseland, Essex Fells, the Caldwells’ and Fairfield.

The type of music to be played is of a “Big-Band” type sound, other than a traditional school band.

This program will be conducted by Robert McHugh, a recently retired Orchestra and Band Teacher from Roseland’s Lester C. Noecker School. McHugh was also one of this year’s Roseland Role Model of the Year Award Winner recipients.

The Jazz Band is looking for students who really enjoy playing music and like to perform! They are looking for students who play the following instruments: Clarinet, Flute, Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone, Baritone / Horn, Bass (Upright and/or Electric), Drums, Percussion, Piano / Keyboard, Jazz Guitar (Electric and/or Acoustic). Children must have their own instruments to perform with. The Roseland Boosters will be providing a Drum Kit and Percussion instruments as well as for Keyboards.

The children will rehearse Mondays and Wednesdays (excluding holidays and teacher conferences where the school will be closed) from 6:30pm to 8:30pm at the Lester C. Noecker School. They will perform locally around the West Essex community.

This program is now taking registrations and will commence the first week of January 2013, through March 2013.
