What Equipment Does ELLL Provide to Coaches?
Each season, East Lake Little League provides our coaches with an equipment bag for use by his/her team. This bag is checked out to the team Manager and must be returned to the Equipment Manager at the end of the season. Batting Helmets are required at all times and a few are provided to the Manager in the team bag. In divisions that require a catcher, the team bag contains a catchers mask, chest and shin protectors. Coaches are also supplied with a couple of dozen baseballs or softballs for the season. Games balls (home team responsibility) are located in the concession stand.
IMPORTANT....Make sure your players are using bats and gloves that are the correct size for them. Contact your VP with any questions.
ALSO IMPORTANT...Make sure parents provide players with plenty of water at all practices and games.
What Do Parents Need to Provide?
There are some items that players will need to maximize his experience in baseball and softball. Purchasing equipment can be intimidating and the options can seem endless. Keep in mind though that it is not the baseball equipment that makes the player... It is the hard work, dedication and sportsmanship! Said a little differently, the most expensive gear isn't necessary for success. You can find everything you need at retail locations like Dick's Sporting Goods and used stores like Play It Again Sports and buy equipment at a price that suits your budget. Mention that you play for East Lake Little League at Play it Again Sports for a discount. Your team Manager will be provided with a helmet and bat by the league if you prefer.
